With over 34 years coaching experience, Mike Yearwood has achieved the prestigious ASCA Level 5 coaching certification.  Mike’s coaching career includes being named High School Coach of the Year four times and Gulf Swimming LSC Senior Coach of the Year.  He coached the Florida 5A State Champions and was the head coach of the University of Georgia men’s and women’s diving.

Coach Mike was a High School Swimming & Diving All-American received his BA degree from the University of South Florida .  He was born in Ocala , Florida and now resides in Keller.  His favorite part of coaching is winning and his philosophy is to do one’s best and have fun doing it.

 

Jason Walter - Head Age Group Coach

As the Head Coach of the Age Group Program, Jason Walter aims to inspire each swimmer to maximize their potential, instill a lasting work ethic and love the sport of swimming.  Jason is ASCA Level 3 Certified and currently coaches Gold and Blue Teams.

His swimming career credits include High School State Champion in the 200 Free Relay, placing in the 50 free at State Championships, and attending Junior Nationals.

Coach Jason has coached high school swimming for 6 years and his achievements include District Champions, a High School State Champion and being named District and Region Coach of the Year.  His most memorable coaching moment was coaching a young woman to victory in the 100 breast at the 4A High School State Meet.

Born in Houston , Jason currently lives in Fort Worth with his wife Darcy and children Anna and Colin.  Jason holds bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Communication Studies from UT Austin.

 

Shannon Gillespy - Senior Assistant Coach - Flower Mound

Swimming competitively since the age of 8, Coach Shannon went on to letter in swimming at SMU and SWTSU where she also received her BS in Education and MA in Recreational Business.  ASCA Level 3 certified, Shannon is committed to the sport of swimming and serves on the USA Swimming Board of Directors, is the President of the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, the Technical Planning Chair for North Texas Swimming and the Manager of the USA Open Water World Chapionship Swim Team.

Shannon has been coaching for 28 years, fifteen of those with LAC.  She spent 5 years coaching Team Orlando Swimming and serving on the Florida Swimming Board of Directors, and returned to Texas to coach the swim team at Marcus High School .  She has been named District and Region Coach of the Year numerous times.  Shannon has coached TAGS State Champions, High School State Champions and Olympic Trial Qualifiers.

Shannon ’s favorite part of coaching is when she sees the delight on her swimmer’s faces when they accomplish their goals.  She lives in Grapevine with her husband Chris and 70-pound black lab that thinks it’s a lap dog.  She has three children and two grandchildren.

Donovan Coskey - Senior Assistant Coach - The Colony

In his ten years of coaching Donovan has worked with a variety of levels of swimmers at Frisco, SWAT, ATAC and the Oakcliff YMCA, and now heads up the LAC Senior Program at The Colony.  He has also served as Head Coach at Birdville High, and is currently Head Coach at Hebron High School .  Among his many accomplishments as a coach, Donovan has Coached All-Americans, State Qualifiers for both 4A & 5A, State winners and record holders for 4A, & Junior National Qualifiers for high school.  

Donovan began his career as a competitive swimmer at the age of 8 and continued through a full-ride scholarship to Henderson State University where he earned his bachelors and teaching certificate.  Donovan was a four-time NAIA All-American, and a ten-times NCAA All-American swimmer. He held the Henderson State University school records in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly, and was also a Senior National qualifier in the 100 butterfly.

Born in Arlington , and currently living in Frisco, Donovan has two daughters and is married to an A&M swimmer who qualified for Olympic trials.  Donovan’s favorite part about coaching is keeping it interesting for young athletes who stare at the black line for so many hours a week.

Allison Dunlap - The Colony Site Supervisor and Swim School Coordinator

Coach Allison grew up in Northern Virginia while her father served in the Navy.  She began swimming at the age of six, and after a move to Texas swam under Coach Shannon at Marcus High School on the varsity team for four years.  She also swam for LAC for five years.

She has her BS in Kinesiology with a minor in Health from the University of North Texas.  She coached NTN for two years before coming to LAC where she coaches several groups at The Colony pool.  She resides in Lewisville.

Nathan Rhoads - Denton Site Supervisor and Marketing Director

Coach Nathan Rhoads has been involved in swimming for more than 15 years as a swimmer, teacher, and coach. Comfortable working with swimmers of all abilities, Rhoads has worked with swimmers ranging from Olympic Trial qualifiers to learn-to-swim students. His teams have won LSC, state, and conference titles, as well as team spirit awards. Coach Nate is a ASCA Level 4 certified coach and has lead swimmers to the levels of USAS Nationals, US Open, USAS Junior Nationals and National Top 10 Rankings.
 
Coach Nate holds a bachelor's degree in English lit and psychology from Arizona State University, and has been the founder and owner of a swim team, swim school and summer sports camp.   
 

Flip Gammon - Senior Assistant Coach - Keller

Coach Flip began his swimming career in high school in Euless and made All-State his Junior year.  He went on to swim for Oklahoma State while earning his Bachelor’s degree.

Flip has been coaching the Duncanville High School team for 27 years and also began coaching USA Swimming level teams in 1989.  He has been High School Region Coach of the Year 3 times and District Coach of the year more than 20 times.  He is also in Who’s Who in America Secondary School Teacher 3 times.

Flip asks his swimmers to give him their best on their worst days so that their best days can be really special.  With this philosophy, he has had numerous TAGS champions, Junior and Senior National swimmers and coached two former UIL Texas state meet record holders and the Outstanding Swimmer in the state 3 times, both of whom made the finals at the Olympic Trials.

Flip coaches the AG1 and Senior 3 groups in Keller.  He lives in Duncanville with his wife of 27 years, twin sons, daughter and 2 labrador retrievers.

Taylor Fields - Age Group Assistant Coach - Flower Mound

As a coach of the Red, Bronze & Silver groups, Coach Taylor loves interacting with the kids and watching them improve.  In addition to her LAC coaching responsibilities, Taylor is the head coach of the Keller Baracuddas (TAAF) and has coached Dolphin Stroke, pre-team, and middle school programs for the Keller ISD.

Taylor started swimming competitively in the 5th grade and kept it up all the way through high school, where she competed at 5A finals, was on record-breaking relays, and was captain of the varsity team.

Coach Taylor is pursuing a bachelors in Kinesiology with a minor in Health at the University of North Texas.  She is a member of the National honor Scholar Society.  She resides in Keller with her two dogs, Gabby and Zoey, and her two fish named Sebastion Watergate and Karen.

 

Tommy Byres - Age Group Assistant Coach - The Colony

In addition to LAC, Coach Tommy’s coaching credits include Waterproof Kids, Special Olympics coach and summer league swim teams.  Tommy is currently the Bronze, Silver and AG1 coach at The Colony.

Tommy enjoys his interaction with children and helping them to achieve goals, learn the value of hard work, team spirit and to become a better person through the sport of swimming.  His greatest coaching moment was when one of his swimmers won a gold medal in the last event of the day at the Special Olympics in Waco and was so excited that he lifted Tommy up into the air.

Tommy attended Grapevine High where he lettered all four years in Golf and Ice Hockey.  He currently lives in Denton and is earning his Bachelors in Business from the University of North Texas .  He is engaged to be married and he and his fiancé have two dogs named Jeremy and Maggie.

 

Jeff Jones - Age Group Assistant Coach - Keller and Flower Mound

Now in his fourth year of coaching, Jeff Jones works with LAC’s younger swimmers and takes great satisfaction in their improvements and seeing them move up through the ranks of practice groups. 

Jeff began swimming competitively at the age of five, and by high school had diversified into basketball and water polo until his graduation from Flower Mound High in 2005.  He is currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at the University of North Texas .

Jeff tries to teach his swimmers that no matter how difficult things may be, they should never stop putting forth their best effort.  His favorite coaching moments are watching the powerhouse LAC team take up half the pool during meet warm-ups.  Jeff resides in Lewisville with his dog Maverick.
