2014 Long Course Sectional Recap
LAC swam to a 4th place finish in the 2014 Southern Zone Sectional Championships held in Conroe, Texas. This meet caps off a very busy and productive season for the teams top 14 and over athletes. This year’s sectional team consisted of 40 athletes ranging from 14 years of age to 22 years of age.
The lone team record of the meet went to Alecia McGillivray in the 1500m freestyle. Many more team records were broken two weeks prior to this meet during the Texas Senior Circuit Championships. The 800 Free Relay team of Kara Guenther, Alecia McGillivray, Megan Hanson, and Alex Sellers finished 1st and carried on a long tradition of winning the event at the sectional level. The LAC Junior National qualifiers did not compete in the Sectional Championship meet and gave the next generation an opportunity to step up in a “Big Meet” situation.
Our coaching staff is very excited about the work ethic and tenacity of our athletes. Our fourth place finish was exciting but we are excited about making a run for the title next season!
